Testarossa Vineyards, located in the historic Novitiate of Los Gatos, approximately sixty miles south of San Francisco, was founded in 1993 by the husband and wife team of Rob and Dianna Jensen. The name Testarossa (Italian for "red-head") was a nickname given to Rob when he was a young university student studying in Italy.
Bill Brosseaux and our winemaking team are dedicated to making small lots of vineyard-designated wines from only the best vineyards in the cool ocean-influenced counties of Monterey, Santa Barbara and Sonoma. Year after year we receive exceptional quality fruit from the Bien Nacido Vineyard in the Santa Maria Valley. In Monterey County we have long-term relationships with the Sleepy Hollow Vineyard and the Pisoni Vineyard, both in the east-facing Santa Lucia Highlands Appellation, and, since 1999, with Rosella's Vineyard and Gary's Vineyard. Also in Monterey County, Testarossa is the first winery to produce a vineyard-designated Chardonnay from the Michaud Vineyard, farmed and owned by former 20-year Chalone Winemaker Michael Michaud. Recently we have begun to purchase grapes from Clos Pepe Vineyard, in the Santa Ynez Valley, and are also closely working with three new Pinot Noir vineyards in Sonoma County.
